Our Story
The Foundry Initiative is a student-led nonprofit born from the conviction that every young person deserves access to transformative STEM experiences. We bridge the opportunity gap by providing high-quality, hands-on enrichment to middle schools in NYC, with a specific focus on Catholic schools and communities where resources are often limited. By connecting passionate high school mentors with younger students, we cultivate a curriculum powered by curiosity and built for long-term opportunity.

The Spark
The Foundry Initiative began with a simple observation: talent is universal, but opportunity is not. As students ourselves, we saw local middle schoolers eager to build, code, and explore, yet lacking the resources to dive deep into STEM. Inspired by our own mentors, we set out to build a bridge—a place where curiosity meets local expertise to ignite the next generation of NYC innovators. This is our story of commitment to community and the belief that every young person deserves to see their potential realized.
